Leading and Planning the Shift to CBE
This toolkit introduces some best practices and tools to support the strategy and planning of your CBE transformation through two lenses: change leadership and change management.
CHANGE LEADERSHIP: Establishing a deep culture of care and learning will help you successfully lead your community through the shifts required for a competency-based learning model. Change leadership focuses on inspiring and guiding people through the change process, influencing and empowering people, ensuring clarity of vision, motivating teams, and cultivating a culture that embraces transformation.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT: Successful CBE implementation requires strategic planning—knowing the key components and levers of CBE systems design and staging the roll out to both activate the strengths of your community and attend to the capacity-building needed. It also requires strong communication, prioritization, data analysis, organization, and design skills. Change management is tactical—It involves building shared knowledge, capacity to implement the change, and systems to support the change.
